Our founder, John Johns Sr., started working in the monument business in 1968 at 9 years old. His experience began with his father, Clayton Johns, who was the founder of C&J Lettering. After John turned 18, he started working for Phillips Display Company in Ottawa and stepped away from the business for a short period of time. In 1990, Clayton passed away, and John began working in the lettering business again, while maintaining full time employment at the factory. John's sons, John Johns II and Steve Johns, began working for the lettering business in 1995 and 2002, respectively, and continue to operate the business today. 

In 2002, we changed our name from C&J Lettering to Trinity Lettering Company. Following this, we opened Findlay Monument Company in 2006 located in Findlay, Ohio. Findlay Monument Company continues to serve Findlay and surrounding communities as the first and only full service monument dealer.

In 2024, Isaiah Johns, son of Steve Johns, carried our business into the fourth generation and serves as our primary on-site engraver through Trinity Lettering. Trinity Lettering continues to serve over 60 other monument dealers and funeral homes throughout the state of Ohio.
